FTCAP Home

Congratulations and welcome to Penn State Erie, The Behrend College!

Before you get started, you will need an updated version of Adobe Acrobat for several of the documents that will be used on your FTCAP day. If you do not have a current reader, click here to install a free updated version.

Recently you received information regarding attendance at the First-Year Counseling and Advising program. This day-long program (PDF) is an academic orientation to the University. On this day you will receive information regarding the academic structure of the University and degree programs. You will gain an understanding of your college preparedness, educational interest, and academic abilities. We encourage your parents to attend. There are segments to the FTCAP program designed  just for parents. Information shared  will be beneficial to both you and your parents.

In addition to academic information, you will meet representatives from offices such as the Bursar, Computer Center, Student Activities, Army ROTC and more. You will also get your Penn State ID and have your computer access account activated. You must have proper identification to obtain your Penn State ID. Please refer to the "Things to Do" bookmark for acceptable identification.  Further, the day will include an informational session on financial aid and billing. During this time you will be given a personalized worksheet outlining your estimated costs and financial aid eligibility as of that date. Please bring any financial aid related paperwork, including your/your parent's Federal PIN, in the event we need to access your FAFSA information.

The Counseling and Advising Program is the first step in college planning. You will meet individually with an academic advisor who will discuss your academic goals and help you with your course selections.

To reserve your date to attend FTCAP, use our on line submission form.
The program will be held from June 13 - June 30 and July 11 - July 28. Using the reservation form, you will be able to select three dates that you can attend. You will be assigned an attendance date based on your three selections. Every attempt will be made to accommodate your first choice; however we are limited in the number of students that can attend each day. Upon receipt of your reservation, you will receive an email notification of your attendance date. Your email confirmation will include additional information you will need to participate in the First-Year Counseling and Advising Program.
