Welcome
to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) program at Penn
State Erie, The Behrend College. The program offers
students both two-year (associate degree) in Electrical
Engineering Technology and four-year
(bachelor degree) programs in Electrical and Computer
Engineering Technology to prepare students for employment
in a world that is dependent on electrical systems and
technologies for all aspects of everyday life.
Our program emphasizes a
"hands-on" approach to learning the fundamentals of
electrical engineering and technology. Nearly every class
offered in the curriculum has a laboratory associated with it.
The intent is to merge the lecture and lab together such that
information from one source supports the other.
The ECET
faculty feel strongly that students learn and retain more when
lecture material is verified by observation and analysis of a
circuit or system built by the student in the lab. In
addition, all bachelor degree students are offered a senior
design project that enables the student to work on industrial
projects prior to graduation.
The faculty in the ECET program have
varied expertise and interests. However, all are committed to
providing first-rate instruction. Both lectures and labs are
taught by the same faculty member, which provides a continuity
of information between the lecture and laboratory.
In
addition, the faculty are continuously involved in externally
sponsored projects or research to maintain their technical
expertise as technology advances. By staying active in the
field, the faculty can provide students with the latest
innovations and trends in electrical engineering and
technology.
Graduates of the ECET program have been
rewarded with excellent positions in industry. Graduates from
the previous year had a nearly 100 percent placement rate. In other
words, just about all our graduates got a job! Preliminary numbers for
this year's class show similar results.
The ECET program at Behrend
has bright days ahead. We are continuously striving to improve
what we do, such that the student obtains the very best
education and becomes a valued contributor to any company he
or she joins. Feel free to browse through the rest of our Web
site to learn more about the ECET program. If you have any
questions, please don't hesitate to contact either myself or
another faculty member.
