SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING Mechanical
Engineering Technology Program Chair: David Johnson The Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology provides hands-on study and application of the principles of mechanical engineering. Upon completing the program, graduates can enter a position of responsibility as a designer or test technician, or consider a variety of positions in manufacturing, field service, maintenance, plant operations, technical sales, or other engineering-related support services. The focus of this two-year program is development of entry-level mechanical engineering technician skills. The major emphasizes basic engineering materials, analysis, design, engineering communication, computer-aided design (CAD), and manufacturing. Graduates are prepared to undertake basic design and materials selection, computer-generated solid modeling of parts, manufacturing process planning, and product testing. They also can serve as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing operations. View a recommended action plan |
