ELECTRICAL, COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE ENGINEERING FACULTY POSITION

The Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering Program starting Fall 2009. The successful candidate will have a commitment to teaching undergraduate engineering courses, the ability to develop a sustainable research program, and serve on university and department committees.

Applicants must have a commitment to undergraduate engineering education and the ability to develop a sustainable research program. Salary is competitive.  Focus areas for this position are in renewable and conventional electrical energy systems, transmission and distribution, electrical energy conversion, embedded control, and robotics. A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field is required; rank is commensurate with experience.

PLASTICS ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY FACULTY POSITION

   Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applicants for a non-tenure track faculty position teaching at the undergraduate level in our Plastics Engineering Technology program starting fall 2009. Applicants should be dynamic individuals with a minimum of five years of industry experience working with the application of polymers in plastic products. A fundamental understanding of polymers and experience in polymer characterization methods is expected. This experience should include specifying plastic materials to match product needs and the evaluation of product success and failure as related to process, product design and tooling. The candidate should be committed to working with students and developing an applied research path within an undergraduate program. A master’s degree in plastics, mechanical, materials or chemical engineering is preferred. Management or project management as an engineering professional is preferred. Excellent communication skills are necessary. Experience with medical plastics processing and CAE is desirable.

PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS
 

The School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend employs part-time instructors in computer programming, electrical engineering, electrical and computer engineering technology, engineering graphics, engineering mechanics, industrial engineering technology, materials science engineering, mechanical engineering technology, and plastics engineering technology.

Most part-time instruction is at the introductory college level. Needs depend upon course schedules, enrollments, and faculty leaves, and sometimes arise on relatively short notice.

The School will accept applications at any time and keep them on file for consideration should vacancies occur. A M.S. degree or higher with teaching experience is preferred.
