Fadi Abu-Farha joined Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, in July of 2008. Fadi received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Jordan in 2001, followed by a Ph.D. degree in 2007, from the University of Kentucky’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, where he spent a year thereafter as a postdoctoral scholar.
Fadi’s research targets advanced sheet metal forming techniques to effectively form lightweight alloys (wrought Titanium, Aluminium and Magnesium alloys) for potential applications in the transportation industry. His work has been already published through several peer-reviewed journal papers, conference papers, posters & presentations. For his excellent research, he was awarded the “Young Researcher Fellowship” at the 3rd MIT Conference on Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics, in June 2005, and the “Outstanding Paper Award” at the 31st Annual North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRI/SME), in May 2003. His teaching interests, on the other hand, include: Engineering Mechanics, Manufacturing Processes, Design of Machinery and Materials Science.
Fadi is affiliated with several organisations; he is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), American Society of Metals (ASM International), American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) and The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).
