Glenn is a Materials/Research Technician in the School of Engineering at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. He graduated from Wattsburgh High School and from the Erie County Vocational-Technical School with a degree in Tool and Die Making. He completed a four-year apprenticeship at Tetra Tool Inc., in Erie, PA and is certified in Heat Treatment of Tool Steels, Tig Welding, and Mig Welding. Glenn is also proficient in Advanced Drafting, Jig and Fixture, Mazak Programming, G-Code Programming, Mitsubishi Wire EDM, Mastercam 10, and Sharnoa Programming. Glenn came to work at Behrend in 2001 with 25 years of experience in design, building and repairing of die cast dies, powdered metal dies, and high tolerance plastic injection molds for the connector industry.
Glenn’s job responsibilities include:
Set-up, programming and operation of equipment for the School’s laboratories
Fabricate and repair equipment
Set-up, maintain, and oversee a preventative maintenance program for all School equipment
Maintain inventory control of expendable items
Assist school faculty in instructional and research programs as assigned
Utilize and teach appropriate safety measure and assure safety in shop operations
