Mr. Kenneth Fisher is the Associate Director of Research and Technology Transfer of the School of Engineering at Penn State Behrend. He obtained his B.S. degree from Gannon University and M.S. degree from Purdue University, all in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the technical staff at Bell Labs in Columbus, Ohio from 1970-1972 where he worked on the development of thin film microelectronic telecommunications systems. He later served in various design engineering and engineering management positions at the American Sterilizer Company (AMSCO) in Erie, PA from 1972 to 1988 where he developed health care surgical equipment and infection control systems.
He joined the faculty at Penn State Behrend in 1988 and served as chair of the mechanical engineering technology program for fourteen years. During this period, the program obtained its initial national accreditation and expanded in terms of academic offerings and student enrollment. He was selected as assistant director of the Penn State Behrend School of Engineering in 2003.
Mr. Fisher is a licensed Professional Engineer, State of Pennsylvania and his research and teaching interests are in fluid and thermal dynamics, engineering design, and engineering management. He has received the ASME Vice-President’s Distinguished Service Award in 2004, was the recipient of the ASME Ben Sparks Medal in 2001, and elected as a Fellow, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, in 1997.
