Dr. Kathleen Muhonen is an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. She received the B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1991 from Michigan Technological University, the M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1994 from Syracuse University, and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1999 from Penn State University.
Dr. Muhonen has seventeen years of industry experience first working as a Device Engineer at Martin Marietta (formerly GE Aerospace) in Syracuse, New York. She was a research assistant at UC Davis; microwave engineer at Hewlett Packard, a technical staff member at Lucent Technologies, Bell Laboratories, assistant professor for the Department of Electrical Engineering at Penn State University, and senior design engineer and staff systems engineer for RF Micro Devices.
Dr. Muhonen is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and ESC Association. She received the Schlumberger Scholarship at Michigan Technological University, the ATRI Fellowship at UC Davis, and the SPEE Fellowship at Penn State University. She was the president of Delta Kappa Nu from 1990-1991 and organizer of the UC Davis Wireless Technology Forum in May 1996.
