Dr. Robert Weissbach is an associate professor of engineering at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1987 from the University of Florida, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1990 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1998 from Arizona State University.
Dr. Weissbach chaired the Electrical Engineering Technology program from 1999-2007. Prior to attending graduate school, he spent six years working on nuclear submarine design and construction at General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, CT.
Dr. Weissbach is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE): and a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Dr. Weissbach is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
He has been twice nominated for the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows Teaching award, once nominated for the Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows Faculty Research Award, and once nominated for the Excellence in Outreach Award. He was named the IEEE Erie Section Person of the Year in February 2003. He received the ASEE Campus Representative Award in June 2003 and the ASEE North Central Section Campus Representative Award in April 2004.
