Recommended Lengths

Between 10 and 15 pages; shorter than articles in a print journal, but slightly longer and more tightly worked than those found in conference proceedings.  Longer essays will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

From a single paragraph "tip" to five to seven pages.

Additional Information

Previously published manuscripts are welcome, providing permission to reprint has been obtained.  Please submit permission form with manuscript at time of submission..

Submissions in the Research and Technology categories must reflect ways in which the research directly informs teaching.

Because theory and practice inform one another, practical advice and teaching techniques are especially encouraged.  Some examples are

  • How to use active learning techniques in a large lecture

  • How disciplinary research informs teaching and how it can be used to motivate students

  • How research in assessment affects choice of teaching methods

  • How technology can be used to help students visualize concepts
