Chemistry Curriculum

A minimum of 124 credits is needed to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. You must earn a grade of at least C in each 300- and 400-level course in the major field.

In your first year of study of Chemistry, you'll take the courses Chemical Principles I and II, the laboratories Experimental Chemistry I and II, Calculus with Analytic Geometry I and II, General Physics I, Rhetoric and Composition, a 1-credit First Year Seminar, and two courses each semester that will help you fulfill your General Education and health education requirements.

In your second year, you will begin courses in organic and analytical chemistry to prepare you for 400-level classes.

A Chemistry minor also is available to students in any major. A minimum of 26 credits is required; after 20 required credits, you'll take 6 to 8 credits in the area that interests you most-physical chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry.
