CLOSED Acting for the Stage 1
Join us in fun games, hilarious skits, and group activities developed for
the stage. Laugh and learn many of the same techniques your favorite actors
use while preparing and performing their roles. The class will culminate
with a performance during the last thirty minutes of Friday’s class.

Homemade Musical Instruments
Making homemade musical instruments can be fun. In this class students will
complete simple science experiments to understand how musical instruments
make sound. They will read stories about why musical instruments were
invented and how they were first used. Students will then make their own
musical instruments using both recycled and new materials. Join us as we
make music together!

The Mighty Ant
NEW
Don’t let the size of an ant fool you. This insect packs a punch! You can
”ant-ticipate” plenty of fun as you unmask the truth about the mighty ant
through observation, literature, activities, and crafts.

CLOSED House Detectives

Your house is a laboratory! We’ll take things apart just to see what’s
inside and how they work. We’ll make bubble bombs, lava lamps, and sticky
skyscrapers from common ingredients and then compare our results to see what
works best in each experiment. We’ll learn all about the different ways you
can use things around the house. These fun activities will be safe, easy to
do, and a great way for young students to get a taste of science through
investigation.

CLOSED Let’s Cheer
Do you have the team spirit? Want to be a cheerleader? Let’s Cheer will
teach basic cheer skills such as sideline cheers and dances. This class
encourages team work, leadership skills, and team spirit. Let’s go, Lions!

Camping Club
Dare to explore! Students will have an outdoor adventure and experience the
joy of camping. Hike, play camp games, practice camp safety, explore
Four-Mile Creek...and have a great time while learning team leadership and
survival skills. Sturdy shoes and socks are required. Sandals are not
permitted.

Think math is all paper-and-pencil activities? Think again! In this class we
will explore concepts such as measurement, estimating, graphing, and adding
and subtracting, using M&Ms, dice, pasta noodles, straws, paper clips,
leaves, and flowers. Who thought learning math could be so much fun?

CLOSED - Introduction to Drawing
NEW
A little timid about drawing? Unsure about the proper use of pencils,
colored pencils, stumps, and erasers? Would you like to draw all day? (Well,
almost all day.) Then this class is for you. Students will explore drawing
with a little math and science mixed in and voila! You get a fun-filled class
as you learn to draw animals, people, and landscapes.

Students will participate in various class activities to increase their
understanding and enjoyment of dinosaurs. We will compare popular dinosaurs,
read about and research dinosaurs, dig for bones, build clay models, and
much more!

Jungle Adventures

Lions and tigers and bears … oh my! Join us for Jungle Adventures and learn
about many different types of zoo animals. We will investigate where these
animals live, what they eat, and how we can help to protect them. On the
last day of class we will take an expedition to the Erie Zoo, where students
can see all of the animals they learned about during the week. Please note
that an adult must provide transportation and accompany each child at the
zoo. The program will not assume responsibility for children during the
field trip.

“Dive” into the different depths of our oceans. Enjoy science through
experiment, art, and projects that allow students to learn about many kinds

Pennsylvania Wildlife
Have you ever wondered about the wildlife in Pennsylvania? We have some very
interesting animals in our region. If you’re curious about them this class
is for you! Where do the animals of Pennsylvania live? What do they like to
eat? When and where do they sleep? Come to the Penn State Behrend Outback
for fun and adventure as we search for the answers.

Kids and Money

This class will focus on the concept of money. Even at a young age it’s
important for kids to know basic skills about spending and saving money.
During the week we will learn not only about the value of money, but how we
earn money, how we save money, how we spend money, and how we keep track of
our money. We will also discuss the difference between paper money and
credit cards, and what it means when there is a sale at a store.

CLOSED Outdoor Sports and Games
This class is designed for both boys and girls. Students will be introduced
to the fundamental skills of several sports, and skills will be tested
through the use of drills and daily scrimmages. The sports we will cover
include soccer, baseball/tee ball, basketball, flag football, and kickball.
Other common children's games will be played as well. This class will
encourage fun, exercise, and practice, all while enjoying the great outdoors!

Kindermusik Adventures: Around the World
Take an imaginary trip around the world and learn to say hello in five
languages as you visit a new place each day: Germany, Japan, Africa,
England, and Mexico. Play the native instruments. Drape sheets over
cardboard boxes and sing over German mountaintops. Toss peanuts on the floor
and bring good luck to one’s home with this Japanese custom. Send messages
in Nigeria with “talking drums.” Activities incorporate music, movement,
drama, and arts and crafts. There is plenty of room for creativity as
children learn about each rich culture and mark their journey with stickers
to post on their very own travel bag.

CLOSED Alternative Art: Ooey, Gooey, Slimy … Chewy?

Don’t fret, you won’t have to eat all of your sculpture pieces….just a few.
Students will mix, squash, and bend materials to create sculptures. They
will learn the scientific facts of why items stick together. They will use
their math skills to measure and weigh objects....and they will have fun
while doing it. This class is environmentally friendly.

EXPIRED ABCs of Martial Arts
Students will learn the Agility, Balance, Coordination, and the other
twenty-three corresponding letters that teach self-confidence, self-control,
self-discipline, and self-defense. Practice a combination of kicks, punches,
and parries, and learn to escape from the most commonly applied street
holds. Comfortable clothing required! A demonstration will be held during
the last hour of the Friday class. Families are invited to attend.
