Behrend Lions Run Into Powerful W & J Squad

The Behrend Lions baseball team ran into a tough Washington & Jefferson squad on Sunday April 23 and were beaten 17-3 by the Presidents (22-6) who are ranked # 29 in the nation.  The blue and white (20-10-1), who have played seven games in the past week, ran out of gas in the third inning when a 3-2 W & J lead turned into an 8-2 advantage as the Presidents scored five runs.  W & J would continue to hit the ball hard and take advantage of five Behrend errors on the day to widen their lead.

Bright spots for the Behrend Lions were junior infielder Chris Engelhardt (Erie/McDowell) and junior leftfielder Brian Hart (Valencia/Mars) as both had two hits and each scored a run in the game.

Behrend baseball will attempt to get back on track on Wednesday, April 26 as they host Lake Erie in a key AMCC doubleheader at 2:00 p.m.  On Thursday, April 27 the blue and white will wrap up their homestand with a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader against Allegheny.
