Elzer Named to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team

The accolades keep rolling in for senior outfielder Shane Elzer (Washington/ Trinity). He was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America All-District Second Team.

Shane Elzer (Washington/Trinity) was named First Team All-AMCC. He led the AMCC doubles (18), and ranked in the top five in on base percentage, batting average (.406), and in runs batted in (39). Elzer, the 2005-06 Behrend Male Athlete of the Year, was previously named to the all-conference second team in 2005, and the first team in 2004. He also was selected by his teammates in back-to-back season's as the program's MVP.

"Shane has had a brilliant career here," said head coach Paul Benim. "The numbers speak for themselves.  He concludes his career as one of the most deserving and decorated players in Behrend baseball history."

Behrend (28-17-1) posted the third most wins in college history this season and earned a bid to the ECAC South Region Tournament for the fourth time in five years. His performance helped guide the program to a 108-59-2 mark during his tenure.
