Behrend Lions Set to Host First-Round AMCC Tournament Games

The Behrend baseball team (25-10) posted a 12-6 conference mark and have earned the honor of hosting first-round games on the Behrend diamond this Saturday, May 5.

"This is great for our program, players and Penn State Behrend," said head coach Paul Benim. "A goal for our program each year is to host conference tournament games. Whomever we play, I am sure it will be top-notch baseball and a real battle."

The first-round of the AMCC Tournament is a win two-out-of-three series. Games are slated for 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and the if necessary game will be at 4:00 p.m. With four more AMCC regular-season games being played on Wednesday and Thursday, Behrend will learn its opponent after the completion of Thursdays games.

The AMCC top two seeds earn byes while the sixth seed travels to play the third seed and the five seed plays at the four seed. The winners then advance to the four-team double-elimination tournament at the regular-season champion site, and the winner advances to the NCAA Tournament.

"Our team is geared up for the stretch run," continued Benim. "We have played some really good baseball this season, and need to be at our best in the AMCC tournament."

Prior to the opening round of the AMCC Tournament, Behrend will host Bethany (WV) in a non-conference doubleheader on May 3 at 1:00 p.m.
