Behrend Women's Cross Country Team Regionally Ranked

The women's cross country team was ranked sixth this week in the Mideast Region Cross Country Coaches Poll.  Head Coach Dave Cooper said, "The team's goal is to finish in the top ten at the Regional Meet, so being ranked sixth this early in the season was a pleasant surprise.  We knew we had a good team, and it is nice to see other coaches recognizing this as well."

The team's performance at the Allegheny Invitational on September 20 was likely a factor in the Coaches Poll Rankings.  At the meet the Behrend Lions raced to a second place finish out of 13 teams, with five of Behrend's runners finishing in the top 25.  This year the team is led by senior Jessica Knapp (Erie/McDowell), junior Jessica Sarver (Freeport/Freeport), and freshman standout Leslie Gentile (Corry/Corry).  Knapp, Sarver, and Gentile will again look to lead the way on October 4, when the team travels to the Dickinson Invitational.
