Cross Country Prepares for AMCC Championships

The Behrend cross country teams will head to Frostburg University in Maryland for the AMCC Championships on Saturday, October 30.  The women will race at 11:00 a.m. with the men to follow at 11:45 a.m.

The Frostburg men have won the championship title for three consecutive years, each time with Behrend coming in second.  During two meets this season where both team's participated, Frostburg and Behrend split.  Sophomore Brad Ruffo (West Middlesex/West Middlesex) has been the top runner for Behrend in five out of six meets and is confident he can help lead the team to its second AMCC Championship.

The Behrend women are also in search of their second AMCC title.  Frostburg will stand in their way.  The Bobcats have won the last two titles, with Behrend winning in the 2001 season.  Senior Jessica Knapp (Erie/McDowell), last season's Runner of the Year, has finished first for Behrend in all but one meet this season, and has taken AMCC Runner of the Week honors on more than one occasion.  Senior Claire Manelick (Youngsville/Youngsville) and sophomore Leslie Gentile (Corry/Corry) have also been strong contenders for the women this year.
