Behrend Men's Cross Country Earns Preseason Honors

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released the 2005 Cross Country preseason Coaches Poll earlier this week, predicting Penn State Behrend to finish second again. Frostburg has managed to win seven of the eight titles with Behrend finishing as the runner's up seven times. The blue and white did capture the program's first championship in 2000.

"Frostburg is a traditionally strong cross country program," said head coach Dave Cooper. "The 2004 meet was a nail bitter to the finish but they prevailed. Our men are determined to turn things around."

Behrend snagged six of the top twelve finishes a year ago and will strive to win this year's title. Junior Brad Ruffo (West Middlesex/West Middlesex) will anchor the men's squad again this season. He finished second overall last season in the AMCC championships and was named to the all-conference team for the second time. The league's Newcomer of the Year was Behrend's Eric DiLuzio (Erie/Cathedral Prep) and he will return for his sophomore season along with fellow all-conference performer Craig Davis (Erie/Harborcreek).

The blue and white will kick off the season on Saturday, September 3, at the Westminster Invitational. The event begins at 10:00 a.m.
