Men's Cross Country Places Second in AMCC The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team did not defend their Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Saturday, October 27. The Behrend Lions finished second to Frostburg. "The men ran their best race of the season, but an untimely illness kept two of our top three runners from finishing where we needed them to be," said head coach Dave Cooper. In the men's race Penn State Behrend did place eight of the top fourteen runners. Junior standout Kevin Ritzert (Ellwood City/Lincoln) led the charge finishing second overall in 29:00. Clayton Kirschner (Hilliards/Moniteau) finished fifth in 29:36, while Matt Sprang (Latrobe/Latrobe) was eighth in 29:56. The Behrend Lions locked up positions 10 through 14 as Mike Bartlett (Erie/Iroquois), Tim Schulthesis, Dan Alvis, Matt Heidecker, and Dan Croft placed in front of three Frostburg runners. Runners who place in the top ten earn AMCC
all-conference honors for their efforts. Ritzert, Kirschner, Sprang,
and Bartlett were tabbed with all-league honors. Frostburg's
accumulated 24 points to Behrend's 31, Pitt-Bradford's 85, and Lake
Erie's DNQ, and La Roche DNQ. Back to Cross Country News Index |
