Cross Country Headed to NCAA Regionals at Dickinson

The men’s and women’s cross country teams finished strong in the AMCC Championships and will continue their season in the NCAA Mideast Regional at Dickinson College on Saturday, November 12, at 11:00 a.m.

The squads hope to continue running strong in order to be successful at the Regionals.  For the women’s team, Jen Bailey (Corry/Corry) has been the top runner for the Behrend Lions all season and has been named to the AMCC All-Conference Team and Newcomer of the Year in the Conference.  She will be counted on to help lead the Behrend Lions to a strong finish. Liesl Soergel (Evans City/Butler) has also been running well and will be looked upon to contribute. Last year the blue and white finished thirteenth out of thirty-five teams.

For the men’s team Brad Ruffo (West Middlesex/West Middlesex) has continued a strong career with the top finish in the AMCC this year.  He has been named Runner of the Year and to the All-Conference Team. Ruffo has been the top runner in every race for the Behrend Lions this season and is expected to once again be near the front of the pack.  Jason Bem (Union City/Union City) should also make a strong performance. Harry Balwick (Erie/Mcdowell) and Craig Davis (Erie/Harborcreek) will also look to run well on Saturday.  Last year the Behrend Lions finished a team-best fourteenth led by Ruffo’s forty-eight place finish in a time of 27:22 out of 249 runners.
