AMCC Cross Country Championships at Penn State Behrend Penn State Behrend will host the AMCC Men's and women's cross country championships this Saturday, November 2 on the Behrend Fields. The women run at 1100 a.m. followed by the men's championship at 1145 a.m. The Behrend Lions captured the women's team title last year, and are looking to defend it on Saturday. "We have some injuries that will prevent us from going at full strength," said second-year head coach Dave Cooper. "We do however feel like we have a good shot at winning it again. That is our team's goal." Top runners for the Behrend lions include Jessica Sarver (Freeport/Freeport) and Jessica Knapp (Erie/McDowell). These two have taken turns being the top finisher for the blue and white in 2002, and are expected to once again battle for the individual title on Saturday. On the men's side, Tim Schutheis (Latrobe/Greater Latrobe) has been the strongest runner to date. Schutheis has finished first for the Behrend Lions in all six invitationals. "Tim has given our program a top-notch effort this entire season," said Cooper. "We expect a very similar effort and result this weekend." Back to Cross Country News Index |
