DIVISIONS

All tournaments will be scheduled in three divisions:

Men's

Women's

Coed

To compete in Intramural Sports individuals and teams are not required to compete or be affiliated with any of the subdivisions described below. The following subdivisions are only for those who wish to be considered for the All Year Sports Trophy. Signing up in one of the three general divisions is also allowed.

    SUBDIVISIONS

Within the three divisions there shall be seven subdivisions for the All Year Sports Trophy competition. Scheduling will continue as always. Teams and individuals will be scheduled in Men's, Women's and Coed divisions. Fraternity, Sorority, Residence Hall and Independent teams will continue to compete against each other by random placement in leagues or tournaments.

      FRATERNITY

Only undergraduate members and pledges registered with the IFC and Panhellenic offices as such will be eligible to compete in this subdivision. Unregistered "social members" or live-ins may not be used.

      RESIDENCE HALL: MEN'S

This subdivision is open to all male  students living in the residence halls and suites (does not include the apartments). The residence halls will be divided up by buildings. Individuals and teams may represent only the building in which they live.

INDEPENDENT: MEN'S and WOMEN'S and COED

This subdivision is open to ALL male and female students (commuters and residents), faculty and staff. A roster will be developed for each team throughout the year from rosters submitted for each activity. The total number of different individuals who may compete for a team may not exceed 35. Fraternity, Sorority and Residence Hall members who do not wish to compete for their respective units are also eligible in this subdivision.

THERE WILL BE AN ALL YEAR SPORTS TROPHY AWARD FOR EACH OF THE FIVE SUBDIVISIONS

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

A. Overall eligibility for IM competition will be determined as always. Team eligibility will be determined by the definitions pertaining to each subdivision. Individuals may compete for as many teams as they wish throughout the year. However, individuals may compete for only one men's or women's team and one coed team in a particular sport.

B. Males or females representing an independent or residence hall team, who join a fraternity or sorority during the course of the year, must finish a given sport with their original team. They may then represent their new team in tournaments that begin subsequent to their transfer.

C. The Intramural Director may either waive or modify eligibility rules when it can be demonstrated that such rules would restrict the right of the individual to participate in an unreasonable or unfair manner.

D. The Intramural Director reserves the right to issue any new rules or regulations that are essential to the success of the total program.

SUBMITTING ROSTERS

A. All teams competing in the point system must STILL submit rosters for each activity.

B. Independent teams will have an OVERALL TEAM ROSTER which will be kept in the IM office. Names will be added to this roster as teams or individuals representing a particular independent team are submitted. This OVERALL TEAM ROSTER may not exceed 35 names. No individual will be counted towards your roster total until they compete in an event. Once this happens this individual becomes a member of your independent team.

C. Fraternities, Sororities and Residence Hall teams do not have to be concerned with OVERALL TEAM ROSTERS. Their rosters are determined by IFC and Panhellenic registers and housing lists.
