The Behrend men's basketball team defeated the Hilbert Hawks 83-46 on Wednesday, December 5 on the Junker Center court.  The men are now 2-1 in the conference with a 5-1 overall mark.

In a battle of two preseason conference favorites, Behrend started fast, building an 11-2 lead just five minutes into the game.  Hilbert would respond with an 11-0 run to take a 13-11 lead at the 13 minute mark.  Both teams were looking to the outside shot in the first half as Behrend hit five from long-range while the Hawks added four three-point buckets of their own.  The blue and white used a 21-13 edge on the glass to help secure a 32-27 lead at the break.

The Behrend Lions would continue their lead as the second half progressed.  At the 13 minute mark the blue and white began an 18 point run on the Hawks, with a score of 63-38 before Hilbert would find the basket again.  The men would go on to secure the victory.

Behrend Lion Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) shot 9 for 13  to contribute a game high 21 points while adding seven rebounds for the win.  Junior Tom Newman (Girard/Northwestern) was 3 for 5 from behind the arc, tallying 11 points for the blue and white.  Senior Dan Zeigler (Johnsonburg/Johnsonburg) hit 100% from the line and added eight and five rebounds on the day.
