Behrend Men's Basketball Travels to Cal-Tech for Tournament

The men’s basketball team looks to continue their winning ways as they get ready to travel to Pasadena, California for two tough games at the Cal-Tech Tournament on Sunday, December 18 and Monday, December 19.  This will be the teams first ever trip out to Cal-Tech, one of the prestigious engineering schools in the country.  “We play some very good teams out there.  It will be a good challenge that we would not otherwise be able to experience,” said head coach Dave Niland.

Behrend will open up against Puget Sound (4-1) at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and then will finish against the Milwaukee School of Engineering (6-3) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.  Behrend should have their hands full with a Puget Sound team that averages 91 points a game and gives up only 76, and a well-balanced Milwaukee team that has won three of its last four.

Behrend (5-1) has been lead by a pair of hometown sophomore standouts Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) and David Gahan (Erie/East).  Buczynski is having a breakout season averaging 22.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.  Gahan has add 15.8 points and a team high 9.0 boards per game.

Behrend returns home on January 3 where they will host Allegheny at 7:30 p.m. in the Junker Center.
