Behrend Lions Move to 13-3 Overall With a 75-44 Home Win

The men's basketball team entered Tuesday's contest with Hilbert having won eight of their past nine games and cruised to another victory 75-44 in the Junker. With the win, Behrend improves to 13-2 and 7-2 in the AMCC.

Behrend raced out of the gate connecting on seven of their first eight three-pointers to leap out to a 15-6 lead. At 1:12 remaining in the half senior Justin Jennings third made three of the half increased Behrend's lead to 42-17.

Behrend continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring the Hawks 33-25.  Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) led all scorers with 22 points along with his eight boards.  Senior Justin Jennings (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) went three for three from long range and finished with 11 points and four rebounds.  Behrend continued their league leading field goal percentage, shooting over 55% from the floor, including 59% from long range.

Bright spots for Hilbert included Corey Vander Sluis, who finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, Dallas Reinard added eight.  Hilbert drops to 5-4 in the AMCC and 7-8 overall. 

Coach Dave Niland's crew continues the conference home stand this weekend with league games on Friday, January 27 at 8:00 p.m. against Frostburg State (6-9, 3-5), followed by Saturday's game against Pitt-Greensburg (7-8, 5-3) at 6:00 p.m. Then on Tuesday, January 31, the Medaille Mavericks (3-12, 2-6) travel to the Junker for a 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
