Behrend Lions Drop Heartbreaker in Overtime

The Penn State Behrend men’s basketball team dropped a heartbreaking 79-77 overtime decision to visiting Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday.  Pitt-Greensburg's Daniel Waajid scored with 2.1 seconds remaining in overtime for the deciding basket.

Senior JJ Perguson (Summerville/Clarion-Limestone) hit one of two free throws with 0.2 seconds remaining in the second half to force the overtime.  Ferguson finished with 19 points but left the game to due to an injury in the extra period.

Sophomore Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) led all scorers with 31 points but fouled out in overtime.  Senior Justin Jennings desperation three point shot at the overtime buzzer did not go down and he finished with six points and five assists.

Matt Rowland led the Bobcats with 21 points, including five three point baskets, and Waajid finished with ten points.

Saturday's loss is the first at home this season for the Behrend Lions (14-4, 8-3).  They will attempt to rebound from the game on Tuesday, January 31, when the Medaille Mavericks (3-12, 2-6) travel to the Junker Center for a 8:00 p.m. AMCC tip-off.
