Behrend Ends AMCC With 5-Point Loss to Frostburg

The men's basketball team lost to Frostburg State on Tuesday, February 21 in the first round of the AMCC tournament, 59-54.

The first half was tight all the way through with several lead changes.  Behrend led for most of the first ten minutes but Frostburg took the lead back with a Dale Deberry three-pointer with four minutes left and went into the half with a four-point lead, 30-26.

Frostburg would retain there lead through the second half until a pair of Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) gave Behrend a 50-49 lead with just under four minutes remaining.  However, Frostburg would take the lead back, this time for good on a Brian Owen jumper that made it 53-52 with a minute left.  Free throws down the stretch iced the game and Frostburg finished with a 59-54 victory.

Buczynski led all scorers with 22 points and also grabbed 11 boards.  David Gahan (Erie/East) added 10 points and five rebounds.  Justin Jennings (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) had a game high six assists.

Leading the way for the Bobcats was Marcus McIntyre with 18 points and six rebounds.  Also with a big game, Brandon Howell came off the bench to net 14.

This ends Behrend's season in the AMCC but the blue and white still have a shot at making the ECAC's.  The teams will be announced some time early next week.
