Buczynski AMCC Player of the Year, Ferguson All-Conference Team

Two Penn State Behrend men's basketball players were awarded all-conference honors at the conclusion of the AMCC season.  Sophomore sensation Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) was elected to the All-Conference First-Team and was the 2005-06 AMCC Player of the Year.  Buczynski finished the AMCC season averaging 18.7 ppg and 6.5 rpg while shooting a league best 61% from the field.  Making the All-Conference Second-Team was J.J. Ferguson (Summerville/Clarion-Limestone), whose sharp-shooting scorched teams all season from beyond the arc.

"We are Very excited for Kevin," said coach Dave Niland.  "Kevin had a tremendous year and worked hard this summer.  It is good to see his work payoff."  Buczynski's 18.7 a game was tied for fourth best in the conference.  He finished tenth in the league in rebounds and fourteenth in free-throw percentage (72.6%).  Buczynski had 22 points and 11 boards in the AMCC tournament loss to Frostburg State will look to lead the Behrend Lions against a tough field of competition in the ECAC tournament beginning on Wednesday, March 1.

Ferguson enjoyed a career season that had him painted all over the NCAA national rankings until he went down with a season ending injury in the end of January.  "We are very happy for J.J.," said Coach Niland.  "For him to be recognized by other coaches after a tough injury, he is very deserving."  Ferguson shot the deep ball with 52.4% accuracy this year, a Behrend season record.  He finished his four years at Behrend shooting 46.9% from three-point range, also a Behrend record, and was 82% from the line.
