Behrend and Pitt-Greensburg To Meet in ECAC Semifinals

The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team will face AMCC rival Pitt-Greensburg in the ECAC Southern Region Semifinals on Friday, March 3 at Keystone College.  Behrend earned a spot in the semifinals when they defeated Wesley (DE) 68-60 in the ECAC first-round on Wednesday, March 1 at Behrend.  Friday's tip-off between the Behrend Lions and the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats will be at 8:00 p.m. in La Plume, Pennsylvania.

Behrend (20-7) will again look to AMCC Player of the Year Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) for big production.  Buczynski, a sophomore forward, is coming off a 24 point, ten rebound performance on Wednesday.  Other team leaders this season for the blue and white are senior Justin Jennings (Cranberry/Seneca Valley) who leads the team in assists with 97 and sophomore David Gahan (Erie/East) who leads the team in rebounds with 185.

Penn State Behrend and Pitt-Greensburg (16-9) have met twice already this season, with Pitt-Greensburg winning both contests.  On December 2 at Pitt-Greensburg, the Bobcats defeated the Behrend Lions 68-65 and on January 28 Behrend fell 77-75 at home in overtime.

In the other semifinal, the host team and #1 seed Keystone College (22-5) will face #5 Albright (17-9) who advanced by defeating Desales College 82-72 on Wednesday night.  The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, March 4th at Keystone for the ECAC Division III Men’s Southern Basketball Championship.
