Behrend Lions Fall to 8-1 in the AMCC With 63-51 Loss to the Storm

Thursday night in the Junker Center featured a battle of the Titans. Both Penn State Behrend and Lake Erie entered the AMCC contest with an unblemished 8-0 mark in conference play. The Storm traveled back to Painesville, OH, with a 12 point win (63-51) and improved to 14-1 overall while the blue and white fell to 10-5.

Behrend and Lake Erie punched back and forth during the first twenty minutes before a David Gahan (Erie/East) layup was followed by Justin Kovac's  (Venetia/Peters Township) as Behrend built a 24-18 advantage going into the break.

The second half started well for Behrend and after Kevin Buczynski's (Erie/Villa Maria) made free-throws at 14:30 gave Behrend a 36-25 lead. Lake Erie would rally behind the interior play of Jajcen Harris and the jump shooting of Robert Williams. The Storm forced eight Behrend turnovers in the final seven plus minutes and outscored the blue and white 24-10 down the stretch to earn the hard fought win.

Buczynski led all scorer's with 26 points on 8-of-11 from the floor, while Kovac chipped in 11. Gahan came off the bench to contribute 11 rebounds in twenty-six minutes of action. Lake Erie's balanced attack featured four players in double-digits. Williams had nine-teen on 7 x 10 from the field, Darnell Campbell had 15 points and seven rebounds, and Derrick Thornton and Harris had 13 and 10 points respectively.

The schedule features another home game this Saturday for Behrend. Frostburg State (6-9, 5-3) travels to Erie for a 4:00 p.m. conference game in the Junker Center.
