Behrend Lions Get Back On Track With Win Over Frostburg State

Men's basketball improved to 11-5 overall and 9-1 in the AMCC with a 67-43 win over Frostburg State on Saturday, January 20 in the Junker Center.  Kevin Buczynski (Erie/Villa Maria) went over 1,000 points for his career by scoring 17 points.  The junior now sits at 1,001 total points scored.

Behrend's league best defense stifled the Bobcats early giving up only 17 first half points and holding Frostburg State to 18% shooting from the floor in the first half.  Behrend led 33-17 at the break behind ten first-half points by Dan Ziegler (Johnsonburg/Johnsonburg).

There was little relief for the Bobcats in the second half as Behrend held Frostburg to 24% shooting from the floor for the game, while connecting on 51%.  Ziegler finished with 12 points while David Gahan (Erie/East) was productive off the bench, going for eight points and six rebounds.  Justin Kovac (Venetia/Peters Township) had seven points, four rebounds, and three assists for the blue and white.

Frostburg State did not have a scorer in double figures.  Dale DeBerry scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds, while Jade Belt had four points and six rebounds.

Behrend is the second place team in the AMCC and will play two straight on the road.  First up is a January 24 game at Mount Aloysius followed by another road game on January 27 at Pitt-Greensburg.
