Softball Strong at Home in Pitt-Greensburg Doubleheader

Behrend softball was victorious in both games of a doubleheader against AMCC rival Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, April 1.  The blue and white took game one 11-5 and rolled 8-0 in game two.

Behrend jumped out 6-0 after a six run bottom of the first and cruised the rest of the way. Katie Whitby (Tyrone/Tyrone), Rachelle Lawrence (Warren Center/Northeast Bradford), and Lauren Lubic (Bridgeville/South Fayette) led the Behrend attack, each going 2 for 4.  Lawrence had the games only triple, stole a base, and added an RBI 

Whitby starred in game two going 4 for 4 to lead the Behrend bats.  Lindsay Baughman also had a strong day at the plate with three hits and two runs.

Freshman pitcher Julie Koman had another stellar game on the mound striking out nine batters and allowing just two hits.  Koman also went 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBIs.

Softball is in action again on Tuesday, April 4, when they will play host to the Hilbert Hawks in a doubleheader scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
