Behrend Remains Undefeated at Home; Shoots Down Hawks

Behrend softball (20-4, 7-1) improved to 6-0 at home when they beat Hilbert in two straight on Monday, April 10.  Behrend won both games of the doubleheader in decisive fashion 11-0 and 3-1 respectively.

Behrend was hot right off the start in game one as they scored three runs in the first inning.  Freshmen Nikki Kaschauer (South Park/South Park) and Allison Babish (Coraopolis/Montour) each scored three runs, while freshmen Julie Koman (McKees Rocks/Montour), who leads the AMCC in ERA, threw a 2-hit shutout to continue her outstanding play.

In the fourth inning of a scoreless game two, the blue and white knocked in three runs to take the lead.  Hilbert would get on the scoreboard with a run in the fifth, but could not put together a comeback.  Behrend's Sandra Jaussi (Bethel Park/Bethel Park) got the win.  The junior pitched five strong innings and yielded just a single run.  Freshman Katie Whitby had two RBIs while Kaschauer was 2-for-3 at the plate in game two.

Softball remains at home and will welcome AMCC opponent Medaille on Wednesday, April 12 in a televised doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.  The team will then close out the home stand on Saturday, April 15 against Mt. Aloyisius.
