Behrend Softball Heads into the Postseason for Second Straight Year

Penn State Behrend softball is on their way to La Roche for the ECAC South region tournament.  This marks the second consecutive season that softball has made the postseason, the team advanced to the NCAA tournament a year ago after winning the AMCC tournament.  Softball again made it to final game of the conference tournament before losing 9-7 to Pitt-Bradford.  Fourth-seeded Behrend is scheduled for a first-round match-up with #5 Neumann College (28-11).

Leading the way at the plate for the blue and white figures to be AMCC Player of the Year Nikki Kaschauer (South Park/South Park) who led the league with a .462 batting average.  All-conference first-team pitcher Julie Koman (McKees Rocks/Montour) should be on the mound.  Koman's 1.53 ERA was tops in the AMCC.

Behrend will try to build off the experience of last year's automatic bid to the national tournament in Ithaca, NY.  "I feel like we are focused and peaking at the right time heading into the ECACs," said head coach Stacy Pondo.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, May 12 at 10:00 a.m.
