AMCC Names Two Behrend Softball Players to All-Conference Team Sophomores Kristen Macha (Export/Franklin) and Loriel Herist (Warriors Mark/Tyrone) have been named to all-conference team in the AMCC. Macha was named to the First Team All-Conference while Herist received Second Team All-Conference honors for the second straight year. Macha spent most of her time in left this season, and all year was a force at the plate. She carried an impressive .427 batting average, leading the team in that category as well as in runs, hits, doubles, RBIs, total bases, and slugging and on-base percentage. Her totals of 50 hits and 12 doubles placed her fourth in the conference. Macha was at her best in conference games, in which she hit .561 and had a slugging percentage of .712. Herist served as Behrend's centerfielder. She was second to Macha on the team in hitting with a .366 average, as well as in hits, total bases, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage. Herist also performed better in the AMCC, where she hit .406 and had eight of her twelve RBIs and scored twelve of her fifteen runs. Herist ranked sixteenth in the nation in triples per game after hitting six on the season. Herist's biggest triple of the year scored Macha in the team's 1-0 first round win over Medaille in the AMCC Tournament. Along with Macha and Herist the blue and white look to return their next seven best hitters, as well as the ace of the pitching staff, in 2006. |
