Behrend Swimming and Diving Weekly Round-Up
It was a busy weekend of action for the Behrend swimming and diving teams. The Behrend Lions traveled to Mount Union College on January 14, and hosted Edinboro University on January 15. Although the Behrend Lions did not manage to earn a victory in these contests there were significant individual achievements.
Cyndi Morales, a freshman from Mexico City, set a pool record in the 1000 yard freestyle against Edinboro with a time of 11:09.96. This time also represents a team record and a personal best for Morales.
On the men's side Matt Seiferth, a freshman from Allison Park (Hampton High School), set a pool record in the 200 yard breaststroke in the meet against Edinboro. Matt's time in the event was 2:21.32. "Having some of our young swimmers performing well at this stage in the season is encouraging for the future of the program," commented head coach Jen Slack.
Next up for the Behrend Lions is a road meet against Frostburg and Penn State Altoona on January 22, followed by a match-up against Washington & Jefferson in the Junker Center pool on January 26 at 6:00 p.m.
