Women's Swimmers and Divers Earn AMCC All-Conference Awards
Coming
on the heels of its third straight AMCC Championship, the Penn
State Behrend women's swimming and diving team had numerous athletes earn
AMCC all-conference honors.
Sophomore standout Krystal Kovach (Scott
Township/Chartiers Valley) was named the AMCC Women's Diver of the Year,
after a season in which she dominated those events among league competitors.
She also earned first team all-AMCC honors in both the 3 meter and 1 meter
diving events.
After two seasons of collegiate competition Kovach holds all four school
women's diving records and two league diver of the year awards.
Her scores of 422.8 and 405.35 in the 3 meter and 1 meter dive respectively,
are consideration scores for the NCAA Championships which will take place
March 12-14.
Sophomore
Katie VanEpps (Pleasantville/Titusville) was named first team All-AMCC in
the 200 fly as well as on three relay teams (200 free relay, 400 medley
relay, 400 free relay). Freshman Anne Lawrence (State
College/State College) was named first team All-AMCC in the 100 fly as well
as earning first team honors as a part of three relay teams (200 free relay,
400 medley relay, 200 medley relay).
Freshman Hilary MacManus (Beaver Falls/Blackhawk) was a member of all four
Behrend relay teams, earning first team All-AMCC honors as part of the 200
free relay, 400 medley relay, 200 medley relay, and 400 free relay.
Freshman Julie Cook (Warren/Warren) was a member of three first team All-AMCC
relay teams, earning recognition in the 200 free relay, 200 medley relay,
and 400 free relay.
Junior
swimmer Danielle Wilson (Pittsburgh/Plum) made the All-AMCC first team as a
part of two relay teams (200 medley relay and 400 free relay), while
freshman Heather Vickery (Bradford/Bradford) made All-AMCC first team
as a part of the 400 medley relay team.
The blue and white also had nine selections to the All-AMCC second team, all
in indvidual events.
The blue and white will be back in the pool when
they travel to the ECAC championships held in Boston, Massachusetts on
February 28-March 1. The NCAA tournament will be held on March 12-14
for the women and March 19-20 for the men.
