Behrend Swimming and Diving Splits With Frostburg State The Penn State Behrend men's and women's swimming and diving teams made the trip to Frostburg, Maryland on Saturday. The women's team downed the Bobcats 110 to 103 to improve to 2-6, while the men's squad lost by a score of 122 to 104 and are now 3-5 on the year. It was a record setting weekend for both teams with eight team records being broken. Brittany Yost (Pottsville/Pottsville) broke her own 50-meter freestyle record with a time of 30.11. Whitney Marshall (Hummelstown/Hershey) set two records in the 200-meter freestyle and the 100-meter butterfly. In the 100 fly Marshall knocked a staggering eight seconds off the previous record with a time of 1:14.44. Cyndi Morales (Mexico City, Mexico/Universidad del Valle de Mexico) set a new mark in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:42.38. On the men's side Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry) posted a time of 4:32.61 in the 400-meter freestyle. Matt Seiferth (Allison Park/Hampton) had a pair of records in the 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:12.13 and the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:24.72. "It was great to see several team records being broken," said head coach Jen Slack. "I was also very happy with the performance of the women's team. A lot of our swimmers stepped up this weekend," said Slack. The Behrend swimmers return to action on Wednesday, January 26, when Washington & Jefferson travels to Erie for a meet at 6:00 p.m. |
