Morales Heads to ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships
Behrend women's swimmer Cyndi Morales (Mexico City/Universidad Del Valle de Mexico) is heading to the ECAC Swimming and Diving Championships to be held at the University of Pittsburgh from February 24 - 27. Freshman Morales qualified in both the 1650 and 500 yard freestyle events.
Morales has enjoyed an excellent season for the Behrend Lions' team. She currently holds four individual Behrend records in the 500 yard freestyle, the 1000 yard freestyle, the 1650 freestyle, and the 400 yard individual medley. Her time of 17:54.67 in the 1650 freestyle took 1 minute 34 seconds off the old record.
Head Coach Jen Slack, a former swimmer at the University of Pittsburgh, is excited to be bringing a Behrend swimmer to her old collegiate pool. "Cyndi is the first female swimmer we have ever had qualify for ECAC's. I think it is just the first step in the ladder for her towards eventually competing at NCAA's. She deserves this for all the hard work she has put in," commented Slack.
