Behrend Men's and Women's Swim Team Competes Against Gannon


The Behrend swim team competed against cross-town rival Gannon on Thursday, December 8.  Both the Behrend men and women fell easily to the Division II Golden Knights.  The men were outscored 157-55, while the women were defeated 141-40.  Eight new pool records were set, all by Gannon  swimmers.

Standing out for Behrend on the men's side was sophomore Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry), who captured two first-place finishes.  Fairchild won the 200 yard freestyle event with a finishing time of 1:50.64 as well as the 500 yard freestyle event with a time of 5:02.49.

On the women's side Cyndi Morales (Mexico City, Mexico/Universidad del Valle de Mexico) and Leah Haller (Ottawa, IL/Ottawa Township) fought hard for second-place finishes.  Morales came in second in the 1000 yard freestyle 11:26.86, while Haller finished second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:13.13

Behrend swimming and diving returns to action on January 13, in the Junker Pool against Mt. Union at 6:00 p.m.
