Behrend Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Host Grove City


The Behrend men's and women's swimming and diving team hosted the Grove City Wolverines Friday, January 27.  The Grove City men beat Behrend 70-42, while the women upended the Behrend women 82-61.

Leading the way for the Behrend men was Anthony Spoto (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham Seaholm).  Spoto placed first in the men's 50-yard freestyle event, with a time of 23.93 seconds.  Also finishing first in his event was sophomore Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry). Fairchild beat out the competition in the 500-yard freestyle event, finishing with a time of 5:07.86.

On the women's side, Cyndi Morales (Mexico City, Mexico/Universidad del Valle de Mexico) dominated the 1000-yard freestyle event.  Morales finished with a time of 11:29.37, two minutes faster than the second place finisher.  Morales also went on to win the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:37.67.  Also gaining points for the blue and white was senior Liz Bross (Erie/Harborcreek).  Bross took first in the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:03.56.

The Behrend swimming and diving team is in action again on February 9-11 when they travel to the Grove City Invitational.
