Swimming and Diving Kicks Off Home Schedule Against Buffalo State
Having a big night for the men was junior captain Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry), who won the three events, for a total of 27 points. Fairchild took the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:50.91, a full four seconds faster than second place Eric Hastings of Buffalo State. Fairchild would go on to take first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:05.93) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.62). For the women, it was Sara Breese (West Springfield/Northwestern) coming up with key points, as she won both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events. Breese finished the 50 with a time of 26.37 seconds and the 100 in 58.25 seconds. First year swimmer, Jenny LaFuria (North East/North East) also grabbed a first-place finish with her time of 1:17.71 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Next up for swimming and diving is an away meet at Bethany on Saturday, November 4. The meet marks the first of a five-meet road trip, putting the men and women away until after semester break when they welcome Edinboro to the Junker Pool on January 13..
