Behrend Swimming Proves Superior In Big AMCC Meet

Penn State Behrend swimming and diving won an AMCC tri-meet on Saturday, January 20 when they beat both Frostburg State and Altoona.  The men were victorious over the Bobcats by a count of 56-40, while the women won 62-38.  The blue and white were winners over Altoona 58-35 on the men's side and 58-42 for the women.  Frostburg and Altoona split, with the Frostburg men winning 50-43 and the Altoona women picking up a victory 54-40. 

Leading the way for Behrend on the men's side was Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry) and Anthony Spoto (Birmingham, MI/Seaholm) who combined for three victories.  Fairchild took the 200-yard freestyle with a time 1:49.78, while Spoto out swam the competition in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyles. 

Colby Seibert (Milton/Milton) and Sara Breese (West Springfield/Northwestern)headlined the women's field, Seibert set a new pool record in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:21.88 while Breese set a new team record in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.86.  Seibert went on to win the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in just 2:07.08.

A.J. Kondash (State College/State College) starred on the boards.  Kondash rang up 200.25 points on the 1-meter and another 154.95 on the 3-meter.

The meet marked the last home event for the Behrend swimming and diving this season.  Lone senior Leah Haller (Ottawa, IL/Ottawa Township) was honored before the meet as part of Senior Day.  They go to Grove City next on January 26.
