Men's and Women's Teams Defeat Penn State Altoona

The men's and women's swimming team defeated Penn State Altoona on Saturday, February 9 in the Junker Center.  The women won 99-64, while the men defeated the Cougars 121-43.  

In the 200 yard medley relay for the men's team, Casey Doody (Scarborough, ME/Cape Elizabeth), Justin Lucas (Houston, TX/Cypress-Falls), Alex Fertelmes (Cabot/Knoch), and Rob Christensen (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) took first with a time of 1:44.97.  Doody also placed first in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.11 and 100-yard freestyle in 50.17.  In the 100-yard breaststroke, Fertelmes took first with a time of 1:00.99.  Eric Phillips (Monroeville/Gateway) placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:10.76.  Lucas Dushac (Indiana/Indiana) placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly.  Ben Atkins (Pleasantville/Titusville) placed first in the 200-yard IM in 2:17.69.  

Leading the women's team was Hollie Stash (North Huntingdon/ Norwin) placed first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:09.33 and 100 backstroke in 1:06.61.  Samantha Cibula (Bradford/Bradford) took first in the 200-yard IM and 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:01.36.  In the 500-yard freestyle, Christine Williams (Seltzer/Pottsville) took first in 5:41.45, while Tara Braden placed first in the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 1:14.53.  Williams, Braden, Cibula, and Braden teamed up for the 200-yard freestyle relay and took first with a time of 1:51.24. 

Next up for the Behrend Lions is the Grove City Invitational/AMCC Classic on February 21-23.  Then the blue and white will compete in the ECAC Championships on February 28-29.
