Behrend set to Challenge for Inaugural AMCC Swimming and Diving Championship this Weekend

For the first time in its ten year history, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference will host a swimming and diving championship, to be held February 8-10 as part of the Grove City College Invitational.  The Behrend Lions will compete for the men's and women's titles against Frostburg State, Penn State Altoona, and Pitt-Bradford.

The men take a 7-4 meet record into the championships, and should face the toughest challenge for the title from Penn State Altoona (4-4).  The women enter the championships at 6-3 and also will face a big test against Penn State Altoona who brings a 7-3 record to the meet.

Fourth-year head coach Jen Wallace said, "We're excited and confident heading into the AMCC Championships.  We're looking forward to some great performances by Behrend athletes this weekend."

The PAC Championships will also be determined from the meet.  Grove City, Westminster, W & J, Bethany, Saint Vincent, and Chatham will be represented.  The meet begins on Thursday, February 8 at 10:00 a.m.  Each day the preliminaries will be held in the morning, and the top 16, among all the competing teams will return for the finals in the evening.

Wallace said, "We will be facing some great competition at the invitational, but our expectations are for the men and women to capture the first AMCC Championship and to hopefully have many ECAC qualifiers."
