Swimming and Diving Kicks Off Home Season Against Bethany College
The Penn State Behrend swimming and diving opened up their home season with a win over the Bethany Bison in the Junker Center Pool on Saturday, November 3. The defeated the Bison 92-75 while the women also enjoyed a win, defeating Bethany College 89-55.
Making big contributions on the men side was senior
swimmer Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry) who finished in the 200 IM
with a time of 2:07 and also in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time
of 10:29. Chris Graves (McMurray/Peters Township) also tallied
some key points for Behrend, finishing first in the 50 freestyle
with a time of 25.76. For the women, Sophomore Sara Breese (West Springfield/Northwestern) aided the win with a first place finish in the 50 freestyle, finishing with a time of 25.76 Danielle Wilson (Pittsburg/Plum) also had a good day, especially in the 1000-yard freestyle, in which she finished first with at time of 12:10. The swimming and diving team have had some winning performances this season already. First the men and women combined to take first place at the Pitt-Bradford Relays last Saturday and the the men beat the tough competition at Buffalo State on Friday, November 2. The women dropped their meet to the Bengals, losing by only 19 points. The team will next host St. Vincent College at the Junker Pool on Saturday, November 10. Events will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m.
