Behrend Lions Swimming and Diving Drop St. Vincent - November 10

The Behrend Lions swimming and diving team picked up another win at home in the Junker Pool on Saturday, November 10. Behrend dropped the St. Vincent women 111-99 and 131-123 on the men's side. This is the third straight win in the 2007-08 season's for the blue and white.

"We had a great meet with several awesome swims," said fifth-year head coach Jen Wallace. "There were multiple bests across the board."

A couple highlights from Saturday included Stephen Graves (McMurray/Peters Township) breaking the school record in the 3 meter diving event, while Kyrstal Kovach (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) set another new mark in both the 1 meter and 3 meter dive.  This is the third time in three meets the team record has been broken.  

In addition, Behrend sophomore Danielle Wilson (Pittsburg/Plum) won in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, and the 500-yard freestyle, while fellow sophomore Sara Breese (West Springfield/Northwestern) claimed first place in the 100-yard backstroke, 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.

For the men senior swimmer Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.69 and Jason Hall (Lower Burrell/Burrell) registered a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.97. Also in Event 14, Anthony Spoto (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham Seaholm) posted a 23.12 in the 50-yard freestyle to accumulate more points and lead the Behrend Lions to the win.

Next up for the Behrend Lions will be a road trip to Pitt-Bradford to battle the Panthers and Nazareth on November 17. Then Behrend will compete in the Fredonia State Blue Devils Invitational on November 30-December 2.
