Penn State Behrend's Weir and Graves Pick Up AMCC Honors

Penn State Behrend athletes recently picked up AMCC honors.  Behrend’s Tom Weir (Rochester/Freedom Area) was named the AMCC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Steve Graves (McMurray/Peters Township) received Men’s Diver of the Week Honors for the week of January 21.

Weir had an outstanding weekend at Frostburg State breaking the team 50 backstroke record and was also a member of the 200 medley relay which took first place in the double dual meet with a team meters record time of 1:57.11. Weir was also successful in breaking the team record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:23.13.

Steve Graves (McMurray/Peters Township) was named AMCC Men’s Diver of the Week. Graves broke a Behrend team record with a score of 261.40 that was set in 2003. Graves' performance was good enough to qualify him for the ECAC Championships.

This was Weir’s first time being named the AMCC Swimmer of the Week and this is the third time Graves received AMCC Diver of the Week honors. The Lions will be back competing on January 26 at Washington and Jefferson at 1:00 p.m.
