Behrend Swimming and Diving Teams Have A Big Night in Junker Pool

The Penn State Behrend swimming and diving team had another big night in the Junker Center pool on Friday, February 1. 
In a competition featuring Pitt-Bradford and Grove City, the blue and white came out on top with several notable performances.

The men came out on top in a number of events.  The 400 yard medley relay consisting of Dustin Fairchild (Corry/Corry)
Anthony Spoto (Birmingham, MI/Birmingham-Seaholm), Tom Weir (Rochester/Freedom), and Joe Reese (Boalsburg/State College) took first with a time of 3:44.65.  Fairchild also came away with a first place finish in the 200 yard Free with a time of 1:49.09, while Reese too fisrt in the 100 Fly in 55.37.

Steve Graves (McMurray/Peters Township) was able to finish only two points behind the Grove City diver to take second in both the one and three meter boards.

For the women, Krystal Kovach (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) took first from the one and three meter boards, scoring almost another NCAA qualifying score.  While teammate Sara Breese (West Springfield/Northwestern) took first in the 50 Free, with a time of 25.27.  The women finished second among the three teams, beating Pitt-Bradford 82-19. 

Swimming and diving will now have two weeks to prepare before the AMCC Championships.  The conference tournament will take place at Grove City as part of the Wolverine Invite February 14-16.  Penn State Behrend is the reigning AMCC swimming and diving champion for both the men and women.
