Behrend's Palski and Kovach Bring Home Swimming and Diving Honors

Penn State Behrend athletes swept the AMCC swimming and diving awards again this week.  Danielle Palski (Harleysville/Souderton) was named AMCC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Krystal Kovach (Pittsburgh/Chartiers Valley) received AMCC Women's Diver of the Week honors for February 4.

Palski had a very busy weekend in the double dual meet in the Junker Center pool against Grove City and Pitt-Bradford on February 1. Her efforts were good enough to take home a first place, two second places and a third place finish, which were all crucial in helping the Behrend Lions rack up points for the competition. Her time in the 1650 free (20:15.43) was good enough to top her personal best.  This is Palski's first selection as swimmer of the week this season.

Kovach had another dominant effort with two winning performances on Friday, including breaking the 1 meter dive school record for a remarkable seventh time this season. Kovach missed qualifying for the NCAA championships by less than one point. This is the fourth time the freshman has been named diver of the week this season.

The blue and white will look for strong efforts out of Palski and Kovach, as well as the rest of the Behrend Lions as they look to defend titles for both the men and women from a year ago at the upcoming AMCC Championships.  The championships will be hosted by Grove City as part of the Wolverine Invite February 14-16.
